Anyone who knows me, knows that I’m a big aviation buff. Aviation has been inbred in my life since I was a young child so it’s only natural that I would be giddy over a chance to fly on a A380. Back in 2012, I had the privilege to fly on ANA’s Boeing 787 and that was an amazing experience, but just recently I flew on the Airbus 380 for the first time. Granted, this plane has been out there for a few years now, but it was still my first experience and it was an amazing one!
I used to be in awe when I looked at the Boeing 747 and although it’s still impressive, it simply doesn’t match up to newness and beauty of the A380. I caught a ride on Emirate Airlines flying from Sydney, Australia to Auckland, New Zealand. Considering the flight was a mere 3 hours, it doesn’t make sense to have such a big airplane flying in a market which primarily uses 737’s. The sole purpose of that route is simply to pick up more passengers who will eventually head to Dubai or further on in Europe.
The A380 cockpit was amazing. It’s an all glass cockpit and it’s stunning that such a big airplane is controlled by a small joystick on the side. The A380 is completely fly-by-wire. When I asked the captain what it was like to fly the plane. He said it was much like driving a Cadillac…..Smooth…
If you are an aviation buff, like myself, or you simply want to fly on something different than the usual planes, I recommend you try to book your next flight on an A380. You won’t be disappointed! If you’re not sure which airlines have A380, just Google “Airlines with A380 fleet” and you will be provided with numerous links. Happy flying!
