I started this blog because too many times I found myself frustrated. I would see something cool on the internet and think to myself, “I want to do that!”. Far too often, when I started to look into whatever it was that I wanted to do, I wouldn’t find much information on the subject. I would spend countless hours researching as much information as I could about a place I wanted to explore. Often, I would find myself coming up empty on finding the answers to my questions. This reason alone is the genesis of theplanetraveler.com website. I want to share with others the information that I’ve uncovered about a place or activity that I have been interested in. The intention is to spare you the anguish and hours I wasted researching about a subject so you could spend more time doing the fun stuff.

I have a thirst for travel and if you are reading this page, I assume you too have a thirst for travel and adventure. A brief history about me is for decades I worked for a major air carrier in the United States. Around my fifth year with the company, I found myself laid off. I thought to myself that I had worked for this company for 5 years and had seen hardly any of the planet. That year, when I was called back to work, I made a conscious choice to start traveling and the rest was history. I found myself traveling the globe. It didn’t matter if I had a travel partner or not, if I wanted to see something, I would go it alone if I had to. Eventually, I began to prefer solo travel because I got so consumed in videoing my adventures. I found my friends not too keen on the idea of spending 5 to 8 hours in one place shooting video.
